The cotton yarn of in Nara is cotton grown by a contract farmer in Shandong Province, China, in a field that has never been used with pesticides or fertilizers for more than 100 years. The craftsmen take time to spin the cotton without putting a load on it, so the texture is similar to hand-spinning.
